How did we get here?
I wish that I could say the answer was simple, but the loss of a loved one,
a child, is much more complicated when faith and the sin of the world collide.
It only took one fragment of time, one split second choice, one fatal decision,
one shot from a gun to change so many lives forever.
On April 18, 2023 at 2:15 pm our son, Blake Mohs took his final breath here on Earth.
As he took his final breath, his body release his spirit to heaven…
And our lives were forever changed.
The next several month of our journey would be of one trying understand
what actually occurred the day our son was shot,
discover how to navigate the media and press to tell our sons story and not the one of the accused,
to learn how to navigate the legal system,
how to engage with our local District Attorney’s office to understand the charges of the now convicted,
learn what services and rights victims families had from the courts ,
discover how to fight for justice in a county that was against justice for the victims ….
If all of this was not enough…
We had to figure out how to plan our 26 year old son’s Celebration of Life,
move him out of his home, file his taxes,
make decisions about things we never expected to have to make….
all while being numb to the shock, pain and grief of it all.
If it were not for the army of angels that stepped in to help guide us,
I do not know if we would be here together, standing firmly ready to fight and help other.
So in honor of our son’s life, his faith and all he stood for here on earth,
We stand up to help, comfort and support other families of murdered victims.
